YOGA FOR BIRTH PREPARATION
Our Yoga for Birth Preparation classes are tailored for the final stages of pregnancy (from 32 weeks onwards). This is a time when mums-to-be need to quieten the mind and let go of time pressures. As well as this, they also benefit from taking time out from constant doing and be in a consciously relaxed state. As a result of this, women can connect with themselves, their babies, and their inner birthing wisdom
The Yoga for Birth Preparation course runs over two weeks and covers the following topics:
- The natural physiology of birth. What to expect at the different stages of the labour process.
- Using breath as an anchor during labour. Detailed breath techniques for the different stages of labour.
- Managing fear. Here women will learn to trust their body and nurture a sense of empowerment.
- Creating a positive intention and guided relaxation. Women will learn to let go of the intellect and connect with their intuition and instincts.

After the initial discussion, the session then becomes more focused on the body. First, we look at incorporating yoga postures that can help move the labour process along. Then, we also look at building inner and outer strength. This will support women along the course of labour.
The class ends with a restorative relaxation, fully supporting the mum-to-be. The aim here is to allow women to let go and connect with their inner self and their babies. Above all, the class aims to nurture a sense of community and sharing in the final stages of pregnancy. We also aim to support women as they approach childbirth and enter into motherhood.
