Tai Chi at Yoga Mama Wellness

We harness and circulate energy within the body, to create a healthier and stronger being – body, mind and sense of self. Being physically comfortable is the starting point, Then, we use breathing, relaxation and visualisation techniques to prepare and connect with our body. The method also includes other specific exercises to direct energy internally, thus engaging and reinforcing the Dan Dien. (An eastern concept – physical centre of ‘vital’ life energy).

We start with Qi gong exercises and the tai chi chuan postures (Yang short form) to strengthen the lower limbs and Dan Dien. While relaxing the arms, shoulders and breathing, we create a general sensation of re-energisation. These slow-moving forms (sequence of steps) assist with posture correction. This also establishes a more efficient use of the body, fluid movement, coordination and increases stability. Although benefits from this work can be felt immediately, greater benefits are gained from a longer commitment to the practice. Most practitioners would say that it’s well worth the effort!

My Yoga Mama practice keeps me balanced, energised and sane. It takes a huge effort to drag myself out of bed on a Saturday morning. After practice, the stress and strains of the past week disappear and I feel strong enough to take on the world.
